Work expands to fill the time
I spent around fifteen hours today working on financial models of customer behavior in the consumer finance industry. Life goes on.
Skis and snow
I was in Masanutten Resort yesterday. Masanutten is part of the Four Seasons hotel and resorts chain. Its located about 200 Kms west/south-west of Washington DC. The mountain slopes were great fun. I found that I can ski quite well even though I spent all my childhood growing up in a sub-tropical sunny clime and felt snow for the first time only in my early twenties! We made a motley group consisting of one Frenchman, a Romanian, an Argentanian, an American and two Indians! It was a pleasant day yesterday with mild temperatures and a thin crowd in the mountain slopes.
Dramatic changes in my life, both professional and personal
My life has been undergoing some radical changes, both in professional and personal settings. I have been trying to adjust fast enough. I have recently joined Capital One. I am based out of their headquarters near Washington DC. I got the job in end of December, within a week after I graduated with a M.S from University of Maryland, College Park. I had been in search of a job throughout the year 2003. I am a business analyst, specifically working in the ‘product strategy’ team for the higher-end (lower credit risk) US credit-card customers. This work is different from whatever I have done before in my life. The learning curve has been steep till now, and as long as I learn new skills and knowledge, I think I will find the work interesting. I spend my Tuesdays and Wednesdays every week in Richmond (a few hours south of Washington DC) and the other three working days in DC.
